Category: architecture. Client: Rill Architects. January 2015. One of my roles as a photographer is to help get my clients' projects published. Or on the flip side of the coin, to find projects for writers and editors when they have stories under development. A longtime freelance writer friend reached out to me in late 2014 asking whether I knew of any recently completed kitchens in McLean, Virginia, to illustrate an article he was writing for the May/June 2015 issue of Arlington Magazine. I made a round of calls and found that David Benton of Rill Architects in Bethesda, MD, had recently designed a custom home in McLean, VA, which featured a large, family-friendly kitchen. Conversations between the writer, the architect and the homeowner happened, and before long, I was being sent to the home to take photographs for the article. It worked out great for everyone involved: architect, freelance writer, magazine editor, homeowner, and of course, the photographer. A win-win-win-win-win situation, you might say.
